Chelsea are reportedly ready to include Conor Gallagher to the list of expendable players ahead of January and cash in on the midfielder.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea are looking to sell Conor Gallagher in January as they have FFP concerns and other transfer targets in sight. The 23-year-old midfield ace will likely bring a big profit if he leaves Stamford Bridge owing to his homegrown status at the club.

Chelsea have spent north of a billion pounds on new players since their new owners took over 18 months ago. The club have emphasized signing stars under a specific age group and keen to build a project for the future, but those decisions have come at a cost.

Chelsea are struggling on the pitch as even a manager of Mauricio Poichettino’s reputation has been unable to turn around their fortunes. Hence, a fundamental problem appears that most of their signings have flopped based on their current performances.

With the January window opening up in a few weeks, Chelsea will enter it in search of new players that would elevate their quality and strengthen specific areas. For instance, they need a new striker with their targets who are not about to come on the cheap.

A recent report suggested Chelsea could fork out €100 million on Viktor Gyokeres, which suggests they are planning big moves. Other targets like Dusan Vlahovic and Victor Osimhen will also cost huge sums, meaning they might have to raise funds through sales to avoid problems with FFP.

Chelsea have already put at least seven players up for sale, but that does not include Conor Gallagher. The 23-year-old midfield ace attracted massive interest around deadline day in the summer window, with the Blues reportedly considering some of those approaches.

They might see the wisdom behind the sale of a homegrown star, as the entire fee received will come in as total profit on their books. They are considering selling Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen, both academy graduates, to raise funds for new players.

Gallager was reportedly ready to sign a new deal, but if the news of his sale have any accuracy, he might as well decide about playing elsewhere. The likelihood of the 23-year-old midfield ace remaining in England are high, with clubs like Tottenham likely to come in and explore a move again in January.
