La Liga club Granada and Manchester United are reportedly in talks over a possible loan deal for 22-year-old Uruguayan international Facundo Pellistri.
According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Facundo Pellistri is the subject of interest from La Liga club Granada. The Nazaries are in talks with Manchester United over a possible loan move until the end of the 2023/24 season. And the 22-year-old winger wants to return to Spain in a temporary move.
Facundo Pellistri and his Manchester United Story
Facundo Pellistri has struggled to stamp his authority since joining Manchester United from CA Penarol in October 2020. The Uruguayan international had spent his formative years with three clubs in his homeland before arriving at Old Trafford. But the move has not worked as well as he would have liked, and he has only secured regular game time while on loan at Deportivo Alaves.
Pellistri’s struggles have continued this season, as he has managed only 366 minutes of game time in 14 appearances thus far. The 22-year-old features more regularly for his national side, thus adding to his frustrations. So, it is hardly surprising that he wants a loan move away from Manchester United before the January transfer window shuts down.
Recent reports have linked Facundo Pellistri with PSV Eindhoven and LA Galaxy. La Liga clubs, including Villarreal, have also shown interest in the youngster. The Manchester United winger has now emerged as a target for another La Liga club, with Granada joining the race to sign him.
Return to La Liga on the Cards?
The Nazaries are in a spot of bother in La Liga as they are second from bottom in the standings. With relegation highly likely, Alexander Medina needs to bolster his squad to stand a chance of remaining in the Spanish top flight. So, the Granada boss wants a new wide attacker in his group.
Facundo Pellistri has thus emerged as a viable target for Granada. The Spanish club and Manchester United are already in talks over a possible loan deal for the 22-year-old winger. And the youngster wants to return to La Liga, where he has fond memories from his stint with Alaves.
With Pellistri pushing to join Granada, a January move is seemingly on the cards. It will be interesting to see if the Uruguayan international resurrects his campaign by returning to La Liga with the Nazaries.
