Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Rayan Ait-Nouri from fellow Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

A report from Football Transfers has claimed that Arsenal and Liverpool are hoping to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rayan Ait-Nouri. The Premier League club value him at around £50 million.

Rayan Ait-Nouri in Demand

Arsenal could certainly use a quality left-back, and Ait-Nouri would be a superb acquisition for them. He could compete with Oleksandr Zinchenko for the starting spot at the Emirates Stadium. With the Ukrainian international blowing hot and cold, the Algerian international can also become the first-choice left-back.

Arsenal will have to add more quality and depth to their squad to compete at the highest level. The Wolves defender has shown his quality in the Premier League with the West Midlands club, and he is certainly good enough to make the step up to a top-four side.

As far as Liverpool are concerned, they need to bring in a capable alternative to Andrew Robertson. Kostas Tsimikas has been a bit of a hit-and-miss for the Reds so far. While the Greek international has impressed going forward, he can be quite vulnerable defensively.

Liverpool need to bring in someone better, and the Algerian defender would be a superb addition. Both clubs have the financial muscle to pay the £50 million asking price, and it remains to be seen whether they are ready to break the bank for him. They have other priorities in the transfer market as well.

Ait-Nouri is currently away on international duty for the Africa Cup of Nations, and he will return to Wolves by mid-February. It remains to be seen whether the two clubs decide to make their move for him and submit an official proposal to Wolves.

The 22-year-old can operate as a left-back as well as a left-sided wing-back. Not only would he improve both clubs defensively, but he will help them improve going forward as well. The defender is still quite young and is likely to improve with coaching and experience.

Rayan Ait-Nouri could develop into an important first-team member for both Arsenal and Liverpool with the right guidance. Both clubs are likely to be in the Champions League next season, and Ait-Nouri will want to test himself at that level.
