Liverpool are reportedly interested in 22-year-old Algerian international Rayan Ait-Nouri, but Wolverhampton Wanderers will not entertain bids for him.

According to a report by French outlet Le 10 Sport, Rayan Ait-Nouri is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds are considering signing the 22-year-old full-back in the January transfer window. But Wolverhampton Wanderers are blocking a potential deal and will not sell him this winter.

Rayan Ait-Nouri has established himself as one of the most promising young full-backs in the Premier League since joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from Angers SCO. A native of Montreuil in France, the Algerian international passed through academies at three French clubs before graduating from the Angers SCO youth division.

But the 22-year-old rose to prominence after moving to the Premier League in October 2020. Wolverhampton Wanderers initially signed him on loan for the 2020/21 season before completing a permanent transfer in July 2021. Since then, the youngster has been in and out of the starting lineup at the Molineux but has grown in stature with every passing campaign.

The French-born full-back has been a regular for Wolves this term, turning out 14 times thus far. Meanwhile, Ait-Nouri’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several Premier League bigwigs. He has been on Manchester City’s radar for a long time, with Liverpool now joining the race to sign him.

Liverpool’s interest in Ait-Nouri is intriguing, considering Jurgen Klopp has Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas in his squad. But Tsimikas’s recent performances have attracted some criticism, especially after his horrendous showing against Toulouse FC in the UEFA Europa League last week.

Nonetheless, signing a left-back should not be a priority for Liverpool, despite what the report by Le 10 Sport claims. But even if the Reds were interested in securing Ait-Nouri’s services, a January deal was improbable. Wolverhampton Wanderers are not ready to part ways with the 22-year-old full-back anytime soon.

So, Ait-Nouri’s suitors must wait until at least the summer transfer window to land the Algerian international. With Wolverhampton Wanderers blocking a winter deal, a move across the Premier League to Liverpool is unlikely.
