20-year-old Tunisian midfield sensation Hannibal Mejbri is reportedly set to join La Liga club Sevilla on loan from Manchester United.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Hannibal Mejbri will embark on a new adventure in La Liga this week. Manchester United and Sevilla have sealed the agreement over a loan deal until the end of the 2023/24 season. The Andalusian giants will have a purchase option in the arrangement, but the Red Devils will not have a buyback clause.

The Hannibal Mejbri Story

Hannibal Mejbri has made gradual progress since joining Manchester United from AS Monaco in August 2019. The Tunisian international spent most of his formative years in France, turning out for the academies at Paris FC, AC Boulogne-Billancourt, and AS Monaco. He immediately made a splash after moving to Manchester United.

But regular game time with the first-team squad has come at a premium, even though he has produced impressive cameos. The 20-year-old has turned out 13 times thus far for Manchester United, chipping in with one goal. Interestingly, Mejbri has more appearances for his national side.

The youngster spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Birmingham City, and another temporary stint beckons in La Liga. Everton and Sevilla have been keen on signing Hannibal Mejbri from Manchester United. And the Andalusian giants have won the race to secure his services before the January transfer window shuts down.

La Liga Beckons

Talks between Sevilla and Manchester United advanced last week, and they presented an attractive project to Mejbri. The two clubs have now sealed the agreement over a loan deal, with the 20-year-old set for an adventure in La Liga in the second half of the 2023/24 season.

Sevilla will have a purchase clause to make his stay at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium permanent in the summer transfer window. But they will need to convince the 20-year-old of their project to extend his stay in La Liga.

A further update by Fabrizio Romano that the value of the purchase option is €20 million. But Manchester United will not have a buyback clause to bring Hannibal Mejbri back to Old Trafford if he joins Sevilla on a permanent transfer.
