Manchester United might reportedly look to beat West Ham United to the signature of in-demand VfB Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy.
According to a report by Football Insider, Serhou Guirassy is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Senegalese striker is also a target for fellow Premier League club West Ham United. But the Red Devils are considering stealing a march on the Hammers for the VfB Stuttgart striker.
The Rise and Rise of Serhou Guirassy
Serhou Guirassy has seen his stock skyrocket since joining VfB Stuttgart from Stade Rennais. The Bundesliga club initially secured his services on a loan deal in the 2022/23 season before completing a permanent transfer in the summer transfer window last year.
The Senegalese international has repaid the faith shown by the Bundesliga outfit by producing excellent performances this season. He has been one of the best strikers in the world this term, amassing 19 goals and two assists in 16 appearances across all competitions thus far.
The 27-year-old’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Many European bigwigs are keen, but Premier League outfits, in particular, are ready to launch the offensive in the summer transfer window. Manchester United and West Ham United are two of his English suitors.
Premier League Calling?
West Ham’s interest in Serhou Guirassy stems from the absence of a reliable striker in David Moyes’s team. Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus have shared the bulk of the goalscoring burden for West Ham this season. But the Hammers need a top-class striker to remain competitive on all fronts. Guirassy is thus a viable target, although they face a potential hijack from Manchester United.
The 27-year-old has been on Manchester United’s radar for much of the 2023/24 season thus far. The Red Devils also want a striker, as Rasmus Hojlund is experiencing teething problems at Old Trafford. In addition, Anthony Martial does not have a future at Manchester United beyond the 2023/24 season.
Serhou Guirassy is thus a viable target for Manchester United, and they are considering stealing a march on West Ham for the VfB Stuttgart striker. But the Bundesliga club might be reluctant to part ways with him midway through the season. So, it will be interesting to see if he lands in England this year.
