Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing 22-year-old Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup, a target for Liverpool.

A report from Give Me Sport has claimed that Tottenham are looking to raid Serie A club Genoa once again for Morten Frendrup. The 22-year-old midfielder is a target for Premier League rivals Liverpool as well.

Morten Frendrup on the Rise

The Denmark international has done quite well for the Serie A club. So, it is no surprise that his performances have caught the attention of Liverpool and the North London club.

Tottenham need to bring in midfield reinforcements, especially with some of their key players heading to the Africa Cup of Nations for the next few weeks. In addition, they could lose Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this month as well. The 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the North London club and he has been linked with a January exit.

Frendrup could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for Tottenham, and it remains to be seen whether they can convince Genoa to sell the 22-year-old this month. They have recently agreed on a deal for Romanian defender Radu Dragusin and the Serie A outfit might not want to cell another key player in the same month.

The 22-year-old midfielder will add defensive cover and physicality to the Tottenham midfield. He could prove to be a quality long-term addition to Liverpool as well.

Liverpool Also Want Morten Frendrup

Liverpool failed to bring in a defensive midfielder in the summer transfer window, and they need to improve in that area. It will be interesting to see if they can beat Tottenham and secure his signature in the coming weeks.

Tottenham have recently negotiated a transfer with Genoa, and they will feel that they have amicable terms with the Italian club. They will certainly fancy their chances of beating their Premier League rivals to the 22-year-old midfielder’s signature.

The talented young midfielder will certainly be tempted to join a big Premier League club, and a move to Tottenham would allow him to showcase his qualities at high level. If Liverpool and Spurs can agree on a fee in the coming weeks, a transfer should be pretty straightforward.

I do not thibk that Genoa will sell another player in this window. Maybe in the summer window who knows.

Why are we looking at unproven midfielders just because they are cheap, we need quality midfielders with proven track records. This is another Levy style transfer asking for a loan or a cheap alternative and this will drag on to the final transfer day when Levy tries to force a lower price or a loan without any obligation to buy.
Levy always drags out all transfers with the hope of forcing the price down but when selling he demands the full price to recoup all monies which he may have spent. This is why we have had so much deadwood players still at the club, Skipp, Sessingnon, Spence, Emerson, Dier, Persisic, Tanganga, and Dnombele. All we hear is we need to sell to recoup money to be able to buy.
The sooner Levy sells up the sooner we can invest and start challenging for trophies. Please no more loan players or cheap alternatives. We still need a top striker and another Centre back and a top midfielder to start to progress into the top four.
