Serie A club Fiorentina reportedly approached Tottenham over a possible loan move for 22-year-old Spanish forward Bryan Gil.

According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Bryan Gil is the subject of interest from Fiorentina. The Serie A club recently approached Tottenham over a possible loan move for the out-of-favour forward. But the 22-year-old is keen on returning to Spain, while the North London club will look for a permanent sale.

Bryan Gil and his Frustrating Tottenham Journey

Bryan Gil had a lot of hype and fanfare surrounding him when he joined Tottenham Hotspur from Sevilla in July 2021. The Spaniard was one of the best young wingers in his homeland, with Real Madrid and Barcelona also showing interest in him three years ago. But the move to Tottenham has not worked out.

The 22-year-old has struggled for relevance at Tottenham, securing the most game time while on loan away from the club. He would have hoped to see things changing under Ange Postecoglou. But game time has still come at a premium for Gil, who has managed only 212 minutes of action in seven appearances thus far this season.

The Spanish winger might be running out of time at Tottenham, with the North London club ready to part ways with him in the January transfer window. But the youngster does not have a shortage of suitors, with Serie A club Fiorentina being the latest to join the race to sign him.

Italy Calling?

Fiorentina’s interest in Bryan Gil is understandable, considering the injury crisis in the first-team squad. Vincenzo Italiano is without Riccardo Sottil and Nicolas Gonzalez, with the duo’s absence leading to a lack of goals. So, it behoves the Serie A club to invest in an attacker in the January transfer window.

Gil has thus emerged as a viable target for Fiorentina, with La Viola approaching Tottenham for a loan move. But a January move to Serie A might not be on the cards, as the North London giants want a permanent sale. In addition, the 22-year-old forward wants to return to Spain when he leaves Tottenham.

Recent reports have linked Bryan Gil with a move to Sevilla. But another stint with Los Nervionenses will only materialise if they submit a bid for a permanent transfer. It will be interesting to see if a deal sees the light of day.
