Real Madrid will reportedly pursue Jamal Musiala if they fail to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Jamal Musiala is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are scouring the market for offensive reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window. And they view the 20-year-old Bayern Munich prospect as an alternative to Kylian Mbappe.
The Rise of Jamal Musiala
Jamal Musiala has come leaps and bounds since joining Bayern Munich in July 2019. A former trainee in Chelsea’s famed Cobham setup, the German international was eligible to represent England on the international stage. But he has picked Germany as his national side after arriving in the Bundesliga nearly half a decade ago.
Musiala made his first-team debut for Bayern Munich as a 17-year-old in June 2020 and has not looked back since then. The 20-year-old talent is now one of the best young prospects in the Bundesliga and is growing in stature at the Allianz Arena. He has chipped in with five goals and three assists in 18 appearances thus far this term.
Meanwhile, Musiala’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. There are several suitors in the Premier League, including Manchester City and Liverpool. In addition, he is a target for the most well-recognised club in the world, Real Madrid.
Real Madrid Eyeing Musiala Swoop
Real Madrid’s interest in Jamal Musiala is intriguing. The report by Fichajes has claimed that he is one of the three options to pursue if Kylian Mbappe does not arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window. But the Bayern Munich prospect is not a like-for-like alternative to Mbappe.
Instead, the 20-year-old occupies similar positions as Jude Bellingham. So, it is hard to see how Musiala will fit into the scheme of things at Real Madrid. Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez are the other two alternatives to Mbappe on Los Blancos’ wishlist. Those two players are better candidates to pursue if they do not land the Frenchman.
But recent reports have claimed that Mbappe and Real Madrid have sealed an agreement over a Bosman move this summer. So, a deal for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner should be on the cards instead of Jamal Musiala, Erling Haaland, or Julian Alvarez.
