Crystal Palace and Fulham are reportedly interested in signing Teden Mengi from fellow Premier League club Luton Town.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace and Fulham have set their sights on Teden Mengi. The two London outfits are keeping tabs on the progress of the 21-year-old highly-rated centre-back at their fellow Premier League club, Luton Town.

Who is Teden Mengi?

Teden Mengi is a graduate of Manchester United’s fabled youth division. But like many before him, the Englishman could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Old Trafford despite the club’s underperformance in the last few years. Instead, he had to suffice with earning game time on loan at Derby County and Birmingham City FC.

Mengi’s stint with Manchester United finally ended in the summer transfer window last year, with Luton Town snapping him up. The 21-year-old experienced some teething problems at Kenilworth Road but has become a mainstay at the back for the Hatters. He has turned out 17 times thus far this season, chipping in with one goal.

The youngster’s progress at Luton Town has not gone unnoticed, with many clubs setting their sights on him. London outfits Crystal Palace and Fulham are closely monitoring Teden Mengi, who has showcased his Premier League pedigree thus far this season.

Crystal Palace, Fulham Keen on Mengi

Crystal Palace and Fulham are showing interest in many mutual targets, including Kalvin Phillips. But the interest in Mengi is hardly surprising, considering a few of their defenders face uncertain futures. At Fulham, Tosin Adarabioyo’s contract situation has left them in a spot of bother, with the 26-year-old ready to run down his contract.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace might need a centre-back amid rising interest in Marc Guehi. The Englishman is a target for top Premier League clubs, forcing the Eagles to scour the market for a replacement. Teden Mengi has thus emerged as a viable target for Crystal Palace.

Fabrizio Romano has not revealed when Crystal Palace and Fulham intend to launch the offensive to sign the 21-year-old defender. But with Luton Town in the battle to stave off relegation, the two London clubs might have their chance if the Hatters go down to the EFL Championship.
