Arsenal are reportedly considering loan offers for Reiss Nelson, although they might only sanction a move if they can sign someone.

According to Football Insider. Arsenal are open to letting Reiss Nelson leave the club on loan in January. The Gunners are not considering a full sale, with the idea designed around getting the winger, currently on a £100,000-a-week deal, up to speed with regular game time.

Reiss Nelson to leave Arsenal?

Reports on Sunday insisted Arsenal were considering loan offers for Reiss Nelson in January, with the view of helping him play regular football. The winger has featured for only 102 minutes of Premier League action, coming in nine appearances, making no starts during the process.

The £100,000-a-week homegrown star gained a lot of attention following a solid end to the previous campaign. He had interest from clubs as Nelson was nearing the expiration of his deal at the club. Instead, Arsenal convinced him to stay at the club and agreed to a four-year contract to further his career at his boyhood club.

Mikel Arteta has relied on Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard to play wide attacking roles. Nelson effectively is their next choice in that regard, but there are concerns about whether he can fulfil his career in his current trajectory under this manager.

Now, Arsenal are reportedly considering loan offers for the homegrown star. If they manage to get him out of the door, then the Gunners will have shortages in that position in which they had planned on signing a new player.

Will Arsenal sign a replacement for Nelson?

With reports of Arsenal ready to accept loan offers for Nelson gathering pace, could his departure hint at a move for another winger in January? The Gunners had been linked with Pedro Neto for a long time, and with the Wolves star regaining fitness recently, they might rekindle their pursuit.

Without signing a new player, it makes no sense for Arsenal to allow Nelson to join another team on loan. They already have shortages in that position, and the £100,000-a-week homegrown star is currently one of the few players who offer a direct threat from that role.

There are heavy links towards signing a new striker in January; the Gunners may also consider a winger, possibly Neto. For now, these reports about a loan move away from Arsenal may have some truth. But there are plenty of conditions attached, including signing a replacement.
