Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly compete with Arsenal to sign 18-year-old versatile Spaniard Yarek Gasiorowski from Valencia.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Yarek Gasiorowski is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The 18-year-old versatile defender is gaining prominence in the market ahead of the January transfer window. The Valencia wonderkid is also a target for Premier League table-toppers Arsenal.
Who is Yarek Gasiorowski?
Yarek Gasiorowski has been with Valencia since his youth career began. A native of Polinyà del Xúquer in the Valencian Community, the Spaniard joined Los Che in 2012 and is a versatile centre-back who can also play as a left-back. Since then, he has come leaps and bounds, rising through the ranks in the club’s youth division before making his first-team debut this season.
The 18-year-old has already turned out eight times for Valencia this season, managing 360 minutes of game time while starting three games. In addition, he represents Spain at the under-19 level, making his debut for the team last year. Meanwhile, Gasiorowski’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of many high-profile clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham.
Arsenal and Tottenham Keen on Yarek Gasiorowski
The Spanish defender has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time, with the club keeping tabs on his progress. Mikel Arteta has driven his project at the Emirates by backing young players to shine and grow. Such an outlook has meant that players younger than 25 have become pivotal figures for Arsenal.
These include Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and William Saliba. Meanwhile, Arsenal might sign a new centre-back next year, with several candidates, including Nico Schlotterbeck, emerging as targets. But Yarek Gasiorowski is also an option worth considering, although the Gunners face stiff competition from local rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Like Arsenal, Tottenham will enter the market for a centre-back next year. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have struck a solid central defensive partnership at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
