Newcastle United could make a move for Conor Gallagher, with the Chelsea mainstay’s future put into severe doubt after recent updates.

According to Fichajes, Newcastle United are considering a move for Conor Gallagher if Chelsea open their doors to a sale. The 23-year-old has made himself an important star under Mauricio Pochettino. But if he leaves Stamford Bridge, some of the top clubs might scramble for his signature.

The Conor Gallagher Situation at Chelsea

Chelsea made headlines with some of their spending, particularly those on new midfielders. Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia arrived during the summer, with the former costing around £115 million, including add-ons.

Lavia has not played for the club so far, opening the door for Conor Gallagher to make his mark, which he has done. The 23-year-old Chelsea mainstay has become Mauricio Pochettino’s main man in midfield. And despite the team’s dreadful performances, the England international has found the spotlight to shine.

Gallagher certainly wants a long stay at the club and may have even indicated his willingness to sign a new contract. But the situation appears far from simple. The Blues are under the FFP scanner, and once again, they might consider selling some of their academy stars to balance their financial books.

Back in the summer, they sold Mason Mount for a hefty profit, and more players in their ranks can fetch them massive income. Gallagher remains one of those, and Chelsea have thought about a sale if an important offer arrives. They are, however, not keen on selling Gallagher to Tottenham.

But they could open the doors for other teams to swoop in. Pochettino certainly would want to keep the midfielder. But certain things are beyond his powers, which could lead to Chelsea doing business for their 23-year-old midfielder in January.

Are Newcastle United interested in Gallagher?

Eddie Howe has several positions to strengthen in January and may urge the club to sign the right options if they become available. Gallagher is someone they like and admire, making him a target for the right price. Newcastle United need a midfielder and has held talks for Kalvin Phillips, who is hoping to leave Manchester City.

Phillips remains keen to join Newcastle United, although he has offers from other clubs, like Juventus. Much will depend on whether the Manchester City man can get regular game time at his new club, something even Gallagher might think about.

For now, Newcastle United might look to rekindle their relationship with Chelsea, with whom they did business for Lewis Hall, another one of their academy stars. Hence, there is optimism for a deal to break through between the clubs, although Gallagher must agree to join the Magpies.

Do not sell the midfkmielder. He is the only player at the moment okaying with Chelsea live at heart. He is to stay.
