Premier League sides West Ham United and Fulham could sign Montpellier striker Akor Adams for around £15 million in January.

A report on Football Insider insists West Ham United and Fulham stand a big chance to sign striker Akor Adams for just £15 million. Montpellier could open their doors for an imminent sale if it means they can make a healthy profit off their £5 million summer investment in the Nigerian frontman.

Montpellier had the enormous task of finding a suitable replacement for Elye Wahi, who scored 20+ goals in Ligue 1 last season. Having sold the striker for a hefty sum, the French side invested £5 million of that in 23-year-old Nigerian striker Akor Adams, plying his trade with Lillestrom in Denmark.

Up until now, Adams has proved his worth and added to his prolific goalscoring tally at Montpellier. He was part of Lillestrom’s season, and in total, he has 24 goals this season for the record. At the French side, he has notched 7 strikes in 16 games, which seems like a good return on their investment.

Montpellier now have the chance to cash in on a healthy profit if they manage to sell Adams in January. A host of sides are already keen, with West Ham United particularly interested in the Nigerian. David Moyes remains intent on bringing in a new frontman to improve his squad and mainly revert to playing Jarrod Bowen on the wings.

Michail Antonio’s injury and the summer departure of Gianluca Scamacca need replacing as Moyes continues to look at several options. The Hammers have held an interest in Stuttgart goal machine Serhou Guirassy. Manchester United and Tottenham could have the upper hand in their ability to offer a lucrative deal.

The Hammers may have started looking at alternatives, with Adams emerging as a target. Signing the 24-goal target would seem straightforward as Montpellier could accept an offer of £15 million or slightly more for the Nigerian star.

Meanwhile, Fulham are also keen on Adams, with Marco Silva capable of tabling an equally good offer for Montpellier to consider. The Cottagers are also in the market for a new striker, as the manager may continue looking for another option, especially after the summer departure of Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Cottagers and the Hammers appear to have a chance, especially as Montpellier might consider making a healthy profit on their small investment in Adams. Things could get much more evident as the January window inches closer, with the Nigerian star likely to make the big switch to the Premier League.
