Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior has reportedly been linked with a January move away from the North London club.

Jakub Kiwior has struggled for regular game time at Arsenal, and it is no surprise that he has been linked with an exit ahead of the January transfer window. However, CalcioMercato has claimed that the Gunners are prepared to block his exit next month despite interest from London rivals Brentford.

Jakub Kiwior: Coveted Across Europe

The Polish defender, who cost Arsenal €25 million, is highly rated around Europe, and several clubs are keen on signing him. There has been particular interest from Italian clubs. It seems that Arsenal want to retain the depth in their squad until the end of the season. So, they will not sanction his departure in January.

All interested clubs will have to wait until the summer transfer window to sign him. Meanwhile, Arsenal have not been able to provide him with regular first-team action, and they must look to focus on his development if they want to hold on to him.

Perhaps, it would be ideal if they decided to loan the player out for the remainder of the campaign so that he can continue to gain valuable first-team experience. Arsenal are in the middle of the title race and they are on top of the league table.

They will want to go all the way this season after missing out to Manchester City last year. So, the Gunners want to hold on to all of their players until the end of the season. Jakub Kiwior could prove to be a useful option for Mikel Arteta during injuries and rotation.

Arsenal do not have exceptional depth in central defence, and the 23-year-old defender could come in handy later on in the season. As for Brentford, the London club have looked vulnerable defensively this season, and they could certainly use a quality central defender.

The Bees are currently 12th in the league table, and they have already conceded 24 league goals in 17 matches. They will have to tighten up at the back if they want to secure a top-half finish and the Arsenal defender could certainly improve them. But Jakub Kiwior will not bolster their defensive unit.
