La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are reportedly ready to pay €15 million to sign Federico Redondo, a target for Manchester City and Barcelona.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Federico Redondo is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are ready to fork out €15 million, Argentinos Juniors’s asking price, to sign the young midfielder. Meanwhile, the 20-year-old is also a target for Manchester City and Barcelona.

Who is Federico Redondo?

Federico Redondo is one of the brightest young prospects in his homeland. Like his famous father, the Argentine midfielder has risen through the ranks at Argentinos Juniors before moving to Europe. He made his first-team debut in July 2022 and is a regular for Argentinos Juniors.

The 20-year-old has turned out 58 times thus far for Argentinos Juniors, with 45 of those outings coming in the 2023 season. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of many high-profile clubs. Manchester City, Barcelona, and Real Madrid are keen on signing him.’

A Big Move Beckons?

Manchester City recently joined the race to sign Federico Redondo. The Premier League champions have suffered in the middle of the park since Ilkay Gundogan’s departure. In addition, Kevin De Bruyne has been on the sidelines for much of the season. So, Manchester City can do with a holding midfielder, with Redondo emerging as a viable target.

As for Barcelona, Oriol Romeu is only a short-term solution, considering he is on the wrong side of 30. In addition, Ilkay Gundogan is well into his thirties and approaching the final phase of his glittering career. Redondo is thus an option worth considering. Meanwhile, Barcelona can also likely afford his price tag of €15 million amid the never-ending financial duress.

Meanwhile, the report has claimed that Real Madrid will be happy to pay €15 million to secure Redondo’s services. Carlo Ancelotti has top-class midfielders in his squad. But with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric approaching the end of their respective careers, Real Madrid can do with midfield reinforcement.

Real Madrid’s willingness to shell out €15 million to sign Federico Redondo leaves Barcelona and Manchester City in a spot of bother. So, the 20-year-old Argentine midfielder might be in the position to emulate his father and represent Los Blancos.
