Crystal Palace and Everton are among those vying for Marseille forward Iliman Ndiaye ahead of the January transfer window.
According to The Sun, Everton and Crystal Palace are keen on bringing Iliman Ndiaye to English shores after a dismal period with Marseille. The Senegalese international joined the Ligue 1 club from Sheffield United but could soon return after an underwhelming start to the season.
Iliman Ndiaye to Return to the Premier League?
Sheffield United are one of the clubs keen to find out if they can re-sign Iliman Ndiaye in January. The Blades are struggling for relevance in the Premier League and could use a familiar face in their setup to boost their chances of survival.
However, there are better teams than the Blades vying to bring the attacker back to England, with Everton and Crystal Palace among those interested in a loan deal. Marseille are reportedly pondering cutting their losses on their huge £20 million summer investment, after his dismal performances.
Ndiaye has scored a single Ligue 1 goal so far and has failed to feature in Marseille’s last three league encounters. He did play for them in their last two UEFA Europa League group games, but his future in France looks far from certain.
Everton held an interest before the summer, and Sean Dyche wants the club to bring new players to boost the squad. The Toffees have suffered due to the ten-point deduction, but they have won their last four games in the Premier League without conceding a goal.
Dyche wants someone to boost their attacking setup and potentially add a new layer of threat. For instance, if they sign Ndiaye, he might replace Arnaut Danjuma, who has not featured prominently since making his loan move from Villarreal. There are a few names, with Everton also keen on revisiting their interest in Samuel Iling-Junior, although Tottenham are ahead in that chase.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have been looking for a new attacking addition since the summer. A striker remains Roy Hodgson’s priority. But they are linked with a host of wide attacking stars. Newcastle United’s Jacob Murphy remains a target, while Hugo Ekitike’s name has also stuck around.
Sam Greenwood also remains a target, and those names tend to show Hodgson wants someone with versatile quality across the front three positions. As for Ndiaye, he could resemble a great opportunity if Palace and Everton could bring him on loan. The Toffees, in particular, could benefit from such a deal as they can easily manage their financial troubles and bring in a player who will improve their forward line.
