Chelsea and Serie A giants AS Roma have reportedly sealed an agreement over a deal for beleaguered Belgian attacker Romelu Lukaku.
According to claims on Radio Radio, as relayed by Giallorossi.net, Romelu Lukaku can stay at AS Roma for two more years. The Serie A heavyweights have an agreement with Chelsea over keeping the beleaguered Belgian attacker at Stadio Olimpico beyond the 2024 summer transfer window.
Romelu Lukaku and a Rollercoaster of a Career
Romelu Lukaku has endured a topsy-turvy ride throughout his professional career. The 30-year-old has had two spells at Chelsea while representing Manchester United for two years. Meanwhile, he has also had two stints at Inter Milan while turning out for Serie A rivals AS Roma this season.
Chelsea loaned Lukaku to the Giallorossi this past summer, with the Serie A heavyweights signing him until the end of the 2023/24 season. The move came after Inter Milan pulled out of the race to complete a permanent deal for the Belgian international due to his negotiations with fierce rivals Juventus.
AS Roma: A Safe Haven For Lukaku
The spell at AS Roma has worked well for Lukaku thus far, as he has amassed 11 goals and one assist in 18 appearances across all competitions. But despite enjoying another successful season with a Serie A club, the former Manchester United striker has no future at Chelsea. Meanwhile, the Blues have already set an asking price to permanently sell him next year.
The beleaguered attacker has no shortage of suitors, with AS Roma keen on completing a permanent deal for him. Meanwhile, he is also a target for rising Premier League bigwigs Newcastle United. But Lukaku wants to remain at AS Roma beyond the 2024 summer transfer window.
The 30-year-old has settled down well at Stadio Olimpico and feels he must continue his journey with AS Roma. That might now be possible, with Ilario Di Giovambattista and Gianni Visnadi claiming on Radio Radio that he will remain at the Serie A club for another two years.
Chelsea and AS Roma have sealed an agreement over what seems like another loan deal. Lukaku’s deal with the West London club runs until June 30, 2026. So, he might extend his contract with Chelsea before returning to AS Roma next summer.
