Bayer Leverkusen’s 22-year-old defensive sensation prefers joining Arsenal amidst interest from Manchester United.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Manchester United have entered the race for the services of Jeremie Frimpong. The Red Devils are keen on signing a new right-back and the 22-year-old Bayer Leverkusen star is on their radar.

Ever since Erik ten Hag took charge at the club, he has been keen on signing a new right back. While Aaron Wan-Bissaka is currently doing a decent job and there is Diogo Dalot to cover for him, the Dutch manager wants a more attacking right-sided full-back.

Ten Hag is keen on having Frimpong in his ranks. The 22-year-old has gone from strength to strength since joining Leverkusen in the winter of 2021. He has been doing wonders for them on the right flank.

In the ongoing season, the full-back has contributed towards 15 goals in his 19 appearances. All four of Manchester United’s full-backs together had fewer goal contributions in the entire 2022-23 season. As a result, it is quite clear why they are keen on having him in their ranks.

Meanwhile, the Dutch international has a €40 million release clause in his contract which can be activated next summer. With Frimpong available on a bargain, the Red Devils want to push hard for his signatures.

But, the Leverkusen defender prefers joining Arsenal over Manchester United and there is interest in his services from Mikel Arteta’s team. The Gunners won’t find it difficult to trigger his release. Arteta already has two quality options at right back in Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The north London club are even in talks of extending their stay at the club. But, they are still looking to sign an attack-minded full-back. Arteta feels Frimpong will be a perfect fit for his plans. He is just 22 and will solve their problems for the present as well as in the long run.

With the Dutch international available for a cheap price, United and Arsenal are both keen but the player prefers joining the Gunners. Mikel Arteta’s team will provide him with a stable base and they have a great project at hand where a lot is going on at United.
