Manchester United could look to get ahead in the race to sign Serhou Guirassy in January, with Newcastle United also interested.

According to Football Insider, Manchester United are ready to push to sign Serhou Guirassy and utilise the meagre release clause in his contract. Stuttgart are aware of the growing interest in the 27-year-old Newcastle target, as the Red Devils would like the upper hand in the chase.

Serhou Guirassy has surprised many with his relentless form this season for Stuttgart. He remains one of the only three players in Europe’s top five leagues to have crossed the 15-goal mark this term, with Bundesliga colleague Harry Kane and France superstar Kylian Mbappe the other.

His prolific form has naturally attracted the attention of several high-profile clubs in the market. Manchester United and Newcastle United are keen on the striker, and Fulham has reportedly conceded defeat in the pursuit.

Guirassy would like a move to the Premier League, with the 27-year-old Newcastle target keen to take his career to the next level. It’s also a brilliant chance for the striker to play with an extensive team before age catches up and the opportunity vanishes.

A move to Manchester United or Newcastle United will have his full attention, but the Red Devils are looking to steal the march. Guirassy has a modest £15 million release clause in his contract, which has made the two clubs take notice, as they will enter the January window with a meagre budget.

Stuttgart are resigned to losing him one way or another, as they cannot compete with the might of those clubs. Manchester United have reportedly established contacts, with Erik ten Hag willing to push and make the signing of Guirassy a reality. The Dutch manager’s eyes change to his frontline, with ideas that include bringing in a new striker.

Guirassy can also play in wide areas, making him an excellent option for Ten Hag. The manager is worried about the dwindling form of summer signing Rasmus Hojlund, with the Dane yet to score his first goal in the Premier League.

Ten Hag would like a new attacker to complement Hojlund rather than replace him in the current setup. Financially, signing Guirassy seems apt, but the Red Devils will have to ward off competition from Newcastle United.

The Magpies are also looking at the striker, but the reputation of Manchester United might do the trick for Ten Hag in this chase. Hence, there’s a considerable possibility of the 27-year-old forward playing in England after the January window.
