Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing 20-year-old Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz in the coming months.

A report from 90min has claimed that Manchester City and Bayern Munich are keen on signing Florian Wirtz. But Liverpool remain determined to beat the competition and secure the services of the Bayer Leverkusen prospect.

The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the best young talents in world football right now, and he could develop into a world-class player with the right guidance and experience. Liverpool could certainly use more creativity and goals in the final third, and the German international would be a quality acquisition.

Wirtz is versatile enough to operate as the central attacking midfielder as well as a winger. He will add technical ability, flair, vision and goals to the side. Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of the talented young midfielder and the German manager could help him fulfil his world-class potential. The Liverpool boss has a proven track record of improving young players and could do wonders with the 20-year-old.

Wirtz has already established himself as a key player for Bayer Leverkusen and he has six goals and 10 assists to his name across 19 appearances this season. The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be an exciting option for the player, and he is likely to be tempted if a big club like Liverpool comes calling.

However, the Bundesliga club are under no pressure to sell him right now. He has a contract with them until the summer of 2027 and Liverpool will have to pay a premium in order to convince them. It is highly unlikely that the Bundesliga table-toppers will sanction his departure in January. So, any move might have to wait until the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old has 14 international caps to his name and will hope to establish himself as a key player for club and country in the coming seasons. Regular football in the Premier League could help him cement his place in the Germany starting lineup as well. There is no doubt that he is a prodigious talent with a big future ahead of him, and Liverpool would do well to secure the services of someone like him.
