Barcelona and Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs tracking 18-year-old highly-rated FC Copenhagen forward Roony Bardghji.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Roony Bardghji is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The reigning La Liga champions have closely monitored the progress of the 18-year-old FC Copenhagen prodigy. The highly-rated attacker is also a target for Premier League bigwigs Chelsea.

Who is Roony Bardghji?

Roony Bardghji is one of the brightest young prospects in Europe. The Swedish Under-21 international spent most of his formative years in the country of his citizenship before moving to Denmark in July 2020. FC Copenhagen snapped him up, and he has come leaps and bounds since then.

The 18-year-old made his first-team debut for FC Copenhagen in November 2021, a few days after his 16th birthday. Bardghji is now a regular for the Danish club, amassing 11 goals in 28 outings thus far this season. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of many high-profile clubs.

European Bigwigs, Including Barcelona, Chasing Roony Bardghji

Recent reports have linked the highly-rated attacker with bigwigs like Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Newcastle United. But Chelsea and Barcelona are seemingly his most serious suitors, with the two well-known heavyweights closely monitoring his progress at FC Copenhagen.

Chelsea’s interest in Bardghji is surprising, considering Mauricio Pochettino has many wingers in his squad. Considering Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk already do not feature prominently for the Blues, it is unclear how the FC Copenhagen prodigy fits into the scheme of things at Stamford Bridge. Nonetheless, Chelsea will continue monitoring his progress.

As for Barcelona, with Raphinha and Ferran Torres facing an uncertain future at the club, it makes sense for the Blaugrana to scour the market for a wide attacker. Several wingers have thus emerged on Barcelona’s radar. But Roony Bardghji can be a multi-faceted solution for the reigning La Liga champions.

Apart from Barcelona and Chelsea, the 18-year-old highly-rated attacker also features on Bayer Leverkusen’s radar. So, the race to sign him from FC Copenhagen is heating up. And it will be interesting to see where Bardghji lands when he leaves the Danish club.
