Former Chelsea star Jorginho is reportedly all set to part ways with Arsenal at the end of the 2023/24 season.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are all set to part ways with Jorginho after the end of the season. The Italian international was seen as a stop-gap signing for the Gunners, and they are now ready to let him leave as a free agent next summer. And a return to Serie A might be on the cards for the former Chelsea vice-captain.

Jorginho came into the limelight while playing for Napoli back in the day. His impressive performances resulted in a move to Premier League giants Chelsea in the summer of 2018. He went from strength to strength after joining the Blues and played an integral role in helping them win the UEFA Champions League title in the 2020/21 season.

After winning multiple titles with the Blues, he parted ways with them and joined Arsenal at the start of the year. The Gunners were looking for depth in the centre of the park, and they decided to go all out to land the Italian international.

He has featured in a total of 33 matches since moving to the North London club. The 31-year-old defensive midfielder has done a decent job throughout the year. In the ongoing season, he has featured in 17 matches and has racked up just under 800 minutes so far.

Jorginho might not be a regular starter for Mikel Arteta but he is an important part of their team. However, they are ready to part ways with him at the end of the season. The Italian international was never in their plans for the long run.

They signed him to cope with the needs of the present and with his contract running out at the end of the season, the Gunners will let him leave as a free agent. While a final decision has not been made yet, it looks like Jorginho’s future doesn’t lie at Arsenal.

Meanwhile, the player will most likely look to return to Italy. He has never hidden his desire to return to his homeland and according to the report, there are quite a few Serie A clubs that would love to have him in their ranks. And, the Gunners are expected to sign a new defensive midfielder in the upcoming transfer window or in the summer of 2024.
