Real Madrid ready to pay €100 million to sign Florian Wirtz

Real Madrid will be happy to fork out around €100 million to sign Florian Wirtz from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen next year.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Florian Wirtz is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are keen on adding the 20-year-old to their first-team squad in the 2024 summer transfer window. And they are willing to pay €100 million to sign him from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.

Florian Wirtz has established himself as one of the best young players in the world since joining Bayer Leverkusen from FC Koln in January 2020. The German prospect has come leaps and bounds in the last four years, becoming a pivotal figure for Die Werkself. In addition, he has broken into his national team.

Wirtz has done well to bounce back from a horror injury, raising his performance levels in the last 12 months. The 20-year-old has started the 2023/24 season well, contributing to 16 goals in 18 games thus far. The youngster has found the back of the net six times while providing ten assists.

Wirtz’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of high-profile clubs across Europe. Several Premier League bigwigs are keen on signing the German international from Bayer Leverkusen. But the young talent is also a target for Real Madrid, who will look to land him from the Bundesliga club.

Reports earlier this year pointed to Real Madrid being one of the favourites to sign Florian Wirtz in 2024. But it is unclear how the Bayer Leverkusen talent will fit into the scheme of things at the Santiago Bernabeu, considering Jude Bellingham plays in the same positions he occupies at the Bundesliga club.

However, the German prospect can play as a box-to-box midfielder and on the flanks. Irrespective of how he fits in Carlo Ancelotti’s team, the Merengues are ready to break the bank to sign him. The report claims that Real Madrid will happily fork out €100 million to secure Wirtz’s services.

Ancelotti has shown with Bellingham that he can modify his system to get the best out of his players. It will be interesting to see if a bid worth €100 million does the trick and convinces Bayer Leverkusen to sell Florian Wirtz next year.
