Manchester United will compete with Newcastle United and Barcelona for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin, whose price tag is €30 million.

According to a report by Romanian outlet Prosport, Radu Dragusin is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Genoa defender is also a target for other high-profile clubs like Barcelona and Newcastle United. Meanwhile, the Romanian international has a release clause worth €30 million in his contract with the Serie A club.

Radu Dragusin has established himself as one of the best young in Serie A in the last few years. The 21-year-old spent most of his formative years in his homeland before joining Juventus in August 2018. But he could not establish a foothold at the Allianz Stadium and embarked on three loan spells away from the Turin-based club.

The Romanian international finally struck gold at Genoa, with the club signing him on a permanent transfer this past summer. Since then, Dragusin has been a regular for Il Grifone, turning 15 times thus far this season while chipping in with a goal and an assist. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of many high-profile clubs.

The last few months have paved the way for rumours linking Radu Dragusin with Newcastle United. The Magpies are scouring the market for a centre-back, considering Fabian Schar is on the wrong side of 30. So, the Genoa defender has emerged as a candidate to be Sven Botman’s long-term central defensive partner. But Barcelona and Manchester United will also compete with Newcastle United for his signature.

The report has claimed that the Red Devils have submitted an initial enquiry for Dragusin. The Red Devils need a young centre-back to be Lisandro Martinez’s long-term central defensive partner. With Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire facing an uncertain future at Manchester United, the Romanian international is a viable target.

Finally, Barcelona’s interest in Dragusin is perplexing, considering Xavi Hernandez has three top-class centre-backs in his squad. While the 21-year-old can replace Inigo Martinez in the coming years, he will unlikely usurp Jules Kounde or Ronald Araujo. So, a move to Barcelona might not serve him well, irrespective of how appealing it sounds.

Genoa will point to the player’s release clause worth €30 million to part ways with him. Manchester United and Newcastle United can afford to pay the sum to sign Radu Dragusin. But it will be interesting to see if Barcelona can beat them to his signature.
