Real Madrid and Manchester City are reportedly interested in Argentine prodigy Claudio Echeverri, who dreams of joining Barcelona.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Claudio Echeverri is the subject of interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City. The 17-year-old River Plate prodigy is also a target for Paris Saint-Germain. But the youngster dreams of joining Barcelona when he leaves the club.

Claudio Echeverri is the latest gem to emerge in Argentina, with his performances in age-group football earning him the spotlight. The teenage sensation began his youth career at Deportivo Lujan before moving to River Plate in 2017. The Argentine prodigy has come leaps and bounds in the last half a dozen years.

In addition, the 17-year-old has been exceptional for his nation’s under-17 team, recently scoring a hat-trick against Brazil. Meanwhile, Echeverri has grown in stature at River Plate, turning out four times thus far for the first team. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Echeverri has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. Los Blancos even considering launching the offensive for him during the summer transfer window. And they remain interested in the 17-year-old Argentine prodigy, who can be a long-term offensive solution for them. But Real Madrid will face stiff competition from PSG and Manchester City.

At Manchester City, signing the brightest young prospects has been the modus operandi under the current owners. Echeverri has been on their radar throughout 2023, and they remain keen on signing him. But Real Madrid, Manchester City, and PSG face an uphill task in the race to sign Echeverri, as he dreams of joining Barcelona. The player’s stance is hardly surprising, considering Barcelona’s rich history of producing world-class players out of South American prospects.

But it is not clear if Barcelona will launch the offensive to sign the 17-year-old Brazilian prodigy anytime soon. So, that gives Real Madrid, Manchester City, and PSG the window of opportunity to secure Echeverri’s services.
