Newcastle United could revive their interest in Hugo Ekitike and make a loan approach for the 21-year-old Frenchman.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle United could look to sign Hugo Ekitike ahead of the January window on a loan deal. Paris Saint-Germain are open to offers, but they might even consider a loan move if they can include a purchase option to recoup the €28 million paid during the summer.
Paris Saint-Germain wanted to avoid signing Hogo Ekitike permanently, but their loan agreement with Stade Reims ensured they paid the €28 million set as an obligation. With the Parisians purchasing Randal Kolo Muani and bringing Goncalo Ramos on loan from Benfica, the 21-year-old Frenchman appears to have no place in Luis Enrique’s side.
PSG tried very hard to ship him out of the club and wanted Ekitike to join Eintracht Frankfurt as part of a deal for Kolo Muani. The 21-year-old Frenchman refused to join the German side, as he may have wanted to prove his worth to Enrique or move to a different club.
Having played eight minutes of football this season, PSG are open to letting their unwanted star leave. During the summer window, many Premier League sides made their interest known to Ekitike, and a move to England appears likely during January.
West Ham United and Crystal Palace are still interested, but now Newcastle United are ready to rekindle their old pursuit of the 21-year-old Frenchman. In January 2022, fresh after their Saudi-based takeover, the Magpies agreed a fee with Stade Reims, but Ekitike rejected the move to St James Park.
At the time, Newcastle United battled in the relegation zone but have since turned their fortunes around. They are not a Champions League side and are attractive to some of the best footballers. They are now keen to bring Ekitike on a loan deal and could convince PSG to move.
Newcastle United may have problems with FFP, which could restrict their spending. Hence, they could see if there are any worthwhile deals in the loan market, and Ekitike’s availability certainly ticks a lot of boxes. PSG might agree on a deal but will want to include a buy option to recoup a. massive chunk of the €28 million paid to Reims.
Newcastle United have attacking issues with some of their key stars out injured. Ekitike must make another decision over his future when the January window opens. He will have choices of clubs other than the Magpies and will likely join a team where his chances of playing are ample.
