Newcastle United are interested in acquiring the services of 21-year-old Paris Saint-Germain forward Hugo Ekitike.

According to a report by 90min, Newcastle United are keen on having Hugo Ekitike in their ranks. The Magpies are looking to bolster their squad in the winter transfer window and the 21-year-old striker is one of their targets.

Ekitike has been a part of Stade Reims since his childhood days. He came up the ranks at the club and made it to their first team in the summer of 2021. His impressive rise and exciting performances resulted in him joining Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2022.

The 21-year-old joined them on an initial loan deal with an obligation to make it permanent for €35 million this summer. Since joining the French giants things haven’t gone according to plan. He has only featured in a handful of games.

In the ongoing season, he only has one substitute appearance. The French youth international is not a key part of their first team and they had made it clear to him after the end of last season.

Ekitike was free to leave the club in the summer but he decided to stay and fight for his place. PSG even attempted to use him in a part exchange deal to land Randal Kolo Muani at the club from Eintracht Frankfurt.

After failing to make the matchday squad since August, the 21-year-old has now decided to part ways in the winter. Newcastle United are one of the clubs interested in his services. The Magpies wanted to sign him back in 2022 from Stade Reims.

They had submitted a better offer (€40 million) than PSG but still ended up losing out on his services. But, they still remain interested in him and are looking to push for the French youth international in the winter transfer window.

The Magpies recently suffered a blow as Callum Wilson picked up an injury and they are now looking to ensure they have enough attacking options in their ranks. They are keen on having Ekitike in their squad. According to the report, a loan move seems to be the ideal outcome of the ongoing situation. While there is interest in his services from across Europe, the player seems to be inclined towards making a move to the Premier League.
