Chelsea will not make a move for the services of 24-year-old Napoli forward Victor Osimhen in the winter transfer window.

According to a report by Fichajes, Chelsea are one of the clubs keen on having Victor Osimhen in their ranks. But they have decided to rule out a January move. The 24-year-old has been on their radar for a while now. But, it seems the Blues will take a back seat for now, primarily due to his €150 million price tag.

Osimhen is currently one of the best forwards in world football. He joined Napoli in the summer of 2020 from LOSC Lille and has gone from strength to strength since. He has featured in a total of 111 matches and has even contributed towards 80 goals.

The 24-year-old helped Napoli end their three-decade-long drought for the Serie A title last season. He was absolutely sensational throughout and was integral to their success. In 2022/23, Osimhen found the back of the net on 31 occasions in all competitions.

He has carried his form into the new campaign. The Nigerian international has seven goal contributions in his ten outings. His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, and he is on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in world football.

Chelsea are one of the clubs who have been keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old for a while now. The Blues have struggled in the final third, and they have not been clinical enough in the final third. So, his arrival could have surely helped their cause.

The Blues were linked with the Napoli forward over a move in the winter. Even the player seems to be interested in joining the English club. But, the West London club have ruled out the possibility of signing him this winter. They do not have the finances required to complete a move in the winter.

Signing the Nigerian international will cost them €150 million, a fee that they cannot afford having already spent millions in the summer. And, on top of that, Napoli’s president Aurelio de Laurentiis has no intentions of parting ways with his star striker in mid-season.

It seems to be a logical move by the Blues to avoid any FFP sanction. Meanwhile, they are expected to return for him in the summer of 2024, and the fact that his contract runs out in the summer of 2025 could help their cause. However, other clubs are also interested and they could be a problem for the Blues.
