Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing 24-year-old Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the coming months.

Chelsea want to improve their attacking unit, and they have identified Victor Osimhen as a target. A report from TEAMtalk has claimed that the 24-year-old striker would be interested in a conversation with the Premier League club regarding a potential transfer.

The Nigerian international has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world, and he scored 31 goals across all competitions last season as he guided Napoli to the Serie A title. There is no doubt that he would be a quality acquisition for Chelsea, and he could prove to be a major upgrade on Nicolas Jackson.

Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal during the summer transfer window, and he has had a mixed spell at Stamford Bridge so far. The Blues need a more reliable goalscorer if they want to compete for major trophies, and someone like Osimhen could transform them in the final third.

The Nigerian striker has proven himself in Italy, and he could be tempted to move to the Premier league now. It would be an exciting next step in his career, and he would get to showcase his qualities at a higher level.

The striker is reportedly valued at £120 million, and Chelsea will have to sell some of their players in order to afford him. They cannot afford to breach the Financial Fair Play regulations, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Napoli might not be keen on letting the player leave midway through the season because they will struggle to replace someone of his quality in January. It is fair to assume that any move might have to wait until the summer transfer window.

Chelsea missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification last season, and they will need to finish in the top four if they want to attract elite talents like Osimhen. The 24-year-old will want to compete at the highest level, and he might not want to join a club without Champions League football next season. Manchester United and Real Madrid have been linked with a move for him as well.
