Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has ruled out a Manchester United move for Chelsea outcast Trevoh Chalobah.

According to Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside, Manchester United are not pushing for the signatures of Trevoh Chalobah. The 24-year-old Chelsea defender is expected to part ways with the London club in the winter transfer window but he is not on the radar of the Red Devils.

Chalobah has been at Chelsea since his childhood days. He came up the ranks at the club and made it to their first team in the summer of 2021. In the initial years, the 24-year-old was quite an important part of their first team. But, over the last 12 months, a lot has changed.

The former England Under-21 star has gone down the pecking order at the cub. He was expected to part ways with the club in the summer and there was interest in his services from quite a few clubs. Bayern Munich and Nottingham Forest were both keen on having him in their ranks but they failed to strike a deal for his services.

While he might not have moved in the summer, the 24-year-old is expected to leave the club in the winter. Romano is 100% certain that the Chelsea graduate will leave Stamford Bridge in January. However, he is not convinced by the rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United.

The Red Devils have had a disastrous start to the new season. One of the major reasons for their poor start to the new season has been the number of injuries the defenders have picked up. The lack of depth in the defensive department has now become a big concern and they are looking to buy a new defender in 2024.

According to Romano, there is nothing concrete about Chalobah joining Manchester United. There are no negotiations at this point in time. He feels reports that link the 24-year-old United are mere guesswork from journalists as the Chelsea graduate wants to leave and United want a new defender.

The transfer expert believes United have a list of potential targets but the former England Under-21 star is not a part of that list. The Red Devils are expected to push for the likes of Goncalo Inacio, Antonio Silva, Edmond Tapsoba and Jean-Clair Todibo.

Romano said: “One player who is expected to leave Chelsea, however, is Trevoh Chalobah, who was a target for both Bayern Munich and Nottingham Forest during the summer. He remains out of the first-team picture and so, as previously reported, I 100% expect him to leave Stamford Bridge this January,”

“Still, I’m not convinced by the recent rumours linking Chalobah with Manchester United – it seems to me like easy ‘guess work’ because he is leaving Chelsea and Man United want to sign a centre-back. It seems like normal links, but I’m honestly not aware of anything concrete there, with no negotiations as of now.

“My understanding remains that United want a CB signing as a priority in 2024, with targets such as Goncalo Inacio, Antonio Silva, Edmond Tapsoba and Jean-Clair Todibo on their list when I spoke to sources recently. There has been no mention of Chalobah, and I will update you if anything changes on that front, but so far there is nothing new.”
