Arsenal and Manchester United will have to wait until the 2024 summer transfer window to land Jean-Clair Todibo from OGC Nice.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, as relayed by Sport Witness, OGC Nice will not part ways with Jean-Clair Todibo in the January transfer window. Arsenal and Manchester United are among the Frenchman’s prospects. Meanwhile, Barcelona will wait with bated breath for his sale as they hold a sell-on clause in his contract.

Jean-Clair Todibo has resurrected his stuttering career since joining OGC Nice from Barcelona. The Blaugrana had snapped him up from Toulouse FC in January 2019 after the then-teenager made a splash in his debut season in professional football. But the stint with Barcelona did not work out, as he failed to establish a foothold in the first-team squad.

The 23-year-old enjoyed varying degrees of success during loan stints with FC Schalke 04, Benfica, and OGC Nice. Nice eventually ended Todibo’s Barcelona nightmare by signing him in a deal worth around €8.5 million two years ago. Since then, the player has come leaps and bounds at the Ligue 1 club.

The French international has turned out 114 times thus far for OGC Nice while breaking into his national team this year. Meanwhile, Todibo’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Arsenal and Manchester United are his prospective suitors ahead of the January transfer window. But Nice will not part ways with him until next summer.

Arsenal recently joined the race to secure Todibo’s services. The update came in the wake of a hit-and-miss start to the season for Gabriel Magalhaes. In addition, recent reports have linked Jakub Kiwior with a move away from the Emirates. So, it behoves Arsenal to invest in a centre-back next year.

As for Manchester United, the Red Devils tried signing the 23-year-old Frenchman in the summer transfer window. But a move did not materialise as they failed to part ways with Harry Maguire. However, Manchester United’s interest has not waned, and they have tracked his progress this season.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will be eagerly waiting for Nice to sell the French international as they have a 20% sell-on clause in his contract with the Ligue 1 club. But with Nice uninterested in a winter sale, Arsenal and Manchester United must wait until the 2024 summer transfer window to secure Todibo’s services.
