Victor Osimhen open to joining Tottenham

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United set to meet with agents of Victor Osimhen.

Victor Osimhen is reportedly open to joining Tottenham if the North Londoners make an attempt, but Chelsea are also chasing the Nigerian.

According to Calciomercato, Victor Osimhen would not rule out a move to Tottenham, although many more high-profile sides are likely to chase his signature. Napoli are reportedly open to a sale if things do not go their way and they receive the right price (€120 million) for the Chelsea target.

Victor Osimhen’s shaky start to the season has reflected on Napoli’s overall standings in all competitions. The 24-year-old was a key performer for the Serie A champions last season, with his goals ending their wait for the Scudetto after 33 years.

With some rifts between him and the club, the chances of Osimhen signing on an extension may have evaporated already. Napoli had held considerable talks with the Nigerian about a renewal, and without it, the striker’s current deal expires in 2025.

With 18 months left on his deal, Premier League clubs are already sniffing around. Despite the report claiming Napoli want €120 million for their star man, previous stories claimed a much higher figure.

It appears that Napoli will demand a significant fee either in January or summer. They will not let go of their prized asset without a proper fight. But that may not deter the hopes of Premier League sides. Chelsea are considering a move, and so are other teams like Liverpool, Manchester United and now Tottenham.

Chelsea desperately need a new striker ahead of the January window after failing to land a proper No.9 in the summer apart from Nicolas Jackson. If he becomes available, they will pump in the money required to sign the €120 million-rated Osimhen.

Liverpool are also interested, but contrasting reports have suggested otherwise. The more intriguing prospect comes from Tottenham, with Ange Postecoglou also keen on landing a new striker in the next window.

Spurs are in a good position in the Premier League, and Postecoglou feels adding a new striker would improve their attacking setup. The report states that Spurs are keen on Osimhen but may consider Ivan Toney their primary target. The Brentford star could push for a move in January amid rising interest from the likes of the north London sides and even Chelsea.

As for Osimhen, he has not ruled out a potential move to the Spurs if they come calling. In truth, the Nigerian may look for alternatives like Chelsea or even Arsenal if he has to move out of Napoli. Yet, one cannot rule Tottenham out of the equation.

Signing Osimhen will be a massive coup for Tottenham and their squad for the immediate and long-term future. The Nigerian more or less guarantees goals and is a much younger option for Tottenham compared to someone like Toney.
