Chelsea will look to sign 24-year-old Nigerian international Victor Osimhen from Serie A champion Napoli by ramping up the efforts to land him.

According to a report by Caught Offside, Victor Osimhen is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are keen on signing the 24-year-old Napoli striker next year. And they are increasing the pressure on the Serie A champions by making enquiries more frequently in the coming months.

Victor Osimhen has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world since joining Napoli. The Nigerian international always had pundits raving about him during his days in the Bundesliga and Ligue 1. But he has taken his performances up several levels in the last three years.

The 24-year-old experienced some teething problems in his early days as a Napoli player. But he has not looked back since finding a stable footing at the Diego Armando Maradona. And Osimhen was instrumental in landing the Serie A title last season while finishing the campaign as the top scorer in the Italian top flight.

The former LOSC Lille striker has continued his form this season, even though the Serie A champions have been inconsistent. The player has managed six goals in eight league outings. But talks over a new contract between the two parties have stalled since some distasteful TikTok videos surfaced featuring him. Such a situation has alerted several high-profile clubs, including Chelsea.

The Blues have been dreadful in the final third in the last 18 months, with goals coming at a premium. The same issues have surfaced this season for Chelsea, with Nicolas Jackson struggling to make his mark in front of the goal. So, it behoves the West London club to delve into the market for a centre-forward.

Osimhen has thus emerged as a viable target, with Chelsea reportedly leading the race to sign him. And they are ramping up the pressure on Napoli by increasing their enquiries and approaches for the 24-year-old Serie A winner.
