Chelsea will have to break the bank and pay £140 million for the services of 24-year-old Napoli star forward Victor Osimhen.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Chelsea are keen on having Victor Osimhen in their ranks. The Blues have been struggling for goals in the ongoing season and are looking to sign a world-class striker in the winter to end their struggles.

After a successful stint at LOSC Lille, Osimhen joined Napoli in the summer of 2020. The 24-year-old striker has gone from strength to strength since joining the Serie A club. And, currently, he is amongst the best forwards in world football.

Last season, he was the highest goal scorer in Serie A and helped Napoli end their three-decade-long wait for the league title. On the back of his impressive season, there was a lot of interest in his services. But, the Partenopei were in no mood to let him leave the club.

However, a lot has changed of late because of a TikTok post by the club for their striker after he missed a penalty. The video was offensive, and the player even considered taking legal action against it. While the situation was taken care of, the report suggests the player is now more open to a move away from the club.

Napoli are well aware of the amount of interest in the 24-year-old. While his contract runs out in the summer of 2025, the Serie A champions are in no mood to let him leave on the cheap and won’t consider anything less than £140 million.

Chelsea are the one of the clubs interested in the Nigerian international. The Blues have been linked with the 24-year-old for a while now and could push for his services in the winter transfer window. While Napoli are unlikely to let him leave mid-season, the Blues are willing to do everything in their power to land him at the club.

They struggled last season because of a lack of goals and ended up signing Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson in order to improve their attack. While Nkunku has been injured, Jackson has failed to hit the ground running.

As a result, Mauricio Pochettino has asked for a world-class number nine, and the Blues are looking to go all out for the Nigerian international. The report suggests they are willing to break the bank to land him at the club. While FFP regulations will be a concern, the Blues board feel they can find a way around it.
