Bayern Munich to battle it out with Arsenal, Barcelona and Manchester United for the services of Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi.
According to a report by Football Transfers, Bayern Munich are keen on having Martin Zubimendi in their ranks. The German giants are keen on having a new defensive midfielder in their team and they have identified the 24-year-old Real Sociedad star as a key target. Bayern are the not only ones interested, they will have to battle it out with Arsenal, Barcelona and Manchester United.
Zubimendi has been a part of Real Sociedad since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at the club and made it to their first team in the summer of 2020. Since getting promoted, he has featured in a total of 159 matches and has even contributed towards 12 goals.
He has been a rock in front of the defence over the last few years and his impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed. The 24-year-old has been on the radar of Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona.
The Gunners might have signed Declan Rice in the summer but their manager Mikel Arteta is keen on having another midfielder in his ranks. With Thomas Partey’s future uncertain, their interest in the Spanish international is quite justified.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are also keen on having a new defensive midfielder in their ranks. Their manager Erik ten Hag had recently sent scouts to watch the Real Sociedad midfielder in action. The Red Devils are very serious about their pursuit of the 24-year-old as Casemiro’s performances are on the decline and he turns 32 after the end of the season.
Barcelona were linked with the Spanish international throughout the summer as they were on the lookout for a potential replacement for Sergio Busquets. While they might have signed Oriol Romeu, the Catalan giants are still on the lookout for a young defensive midfielder who can help them in the long run. And, the 24-year-old is one of their key targets.
Arsenal, Barcelona and United are all keen but they will have to battle it out with Bayern Munich. The German giants were on the verge of signing Joao Palhinha in the summer. But, that move didn’t go through. They are still on the lookout for a defensive midfielder as it is their priority.
While Palhinha is still a priority, they have identified Zubimendi as a key transfer target. If they fail to land the Fulham midfielder, they are expected to go hard for the services of the 24-year-old who has a €60 million release clause in his contract.
