Manchester United are keen on having 24-year-old Real Sociedad defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi in their ranks.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Manchester United are interested in acquiring the services of Martin Zubimendi. The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has been doing wonders of late, and he is on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in world football.

Zubimendi has come through the ranks at Real Sociedad. He made it to their first team back in the summer of 2020. Over the years, he has featured in 154 matches for his childhood club and has even contributed towards 12 goals.

The Spanish international has become the mainstay in the middle of the park for the Basque outfit, and he has already featured in 11 matches this season. The 24-year-old has also contributed towards two goals.

Zubimendi is amongst the best young defensive midfielders, and there is a lot of interest in his services. While his contract with Real Sociedad runs until the summer of 2027, there is a real possibility of him parting ways in the near future.

Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in the Spanish international. Erik ten Hag wants to reinforce his midfield and has his eyes on the 24-year-old. He had asked the United scouts to travel to Spain and watch him in action against Mallorca.

Real Sociedad ended up winning the game, and it was an exceptional defensive performance from the team, with Zubimendi playing his part. With United scouting him, their intentions are quite clear, they would love to have him in their ranks.

The Red Devils are in a spot of bother, with things not really working for them. They have had one of the worst starts to a new season in their history. While injuries are one of the major reasons, the form of Casemiro is also a concern.

The Brazilian international’s form has dipped of late, and he has also been subject to a lot of injuries. On top of that, Casemiro will be 32 by the end of the season. As a result, Ten Hag is looking for someone who provide cover for the former Real Madrid star and eventually replace him.
