AC Milan will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old Arsenal utility man Takehiro Tomiyasu in the January transfer window.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, Takehiro Tomiyasu is the subject of interest from AC Milan. The Serie A giants are scouring the market for a versatile defender. And they will look to secure the services of the Arsenal defender in an initial loan deal in the January transfer window.
Takehiro Tomiyasu has been a dependable performer for Arsenal since joining them from Bologna in August 2021. The Japanese international had a fruitful two-year stint in Serie A with the Rossoblu. But he has not been the undisputed first-choice starter for Arsenal in the last two seasons at the Emirates.
However, Tomiyasu’s versatility has made him an asset for the North London club, with Mikel Arteta often depending on him in the biggest games. The 25-year-old utility man has turned out 68 times thus far for Arsenal, chipping in with one goal and three assists. But the player’s long-term future at Arsenal is uncertain.
The versatile defender will have entered the final 18 months of his contract with Arsenal in the January transfer window. Such a situation is not lost on prospective suitors, with several well-known clubs interested in him. One of those will be Serie A heavyweights AC Milan.
The Italian giants are scouring the market for a versatile defender who can be an asset in different positions. AC Milan will look to sign someone who can compete with Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez on both flanks. Takehiro Tomiyasu has thus emerged as a viable target for the Rossoneri.
The Serie A heavyweights have also shown interest in other versatile defenders like Nacho. But Tomiyasu might be the better option due to his age profile, considering he can be a long-term solution. But AC Milan will look to sign the Arsenal utility man on an initial loan deal in January.
