Manchester United are reportedly ready to battle it out with Newcastle United for the services of Lyon sensation Rayan Cherki.
According to a report by Football Insider, Manchester United and Newcastle United are both keen on having Rayan Cherki in their ranks. The 20-year-old French sensation might be struggling in the ongoing season. But he is regarded as a huge prospect for the future, and there is a lot of interest in his services.
Cherki has come through the ranks at Lyon, and he made it to their first team in the winter of 2020. The French youth international already has over 100 appearances for Les Gones, and has contributed towards 31 goals.
The 20-year-old has been a constant feature for the French Under-21 team. He has featured in a total of 18 matches for the French youth team and has contributed with 11 goals. While Cherki has been doing well for the French youth team, things have not gone according to plan for his club in the ongoing season.
Lyon are currently bottom of the Ligue 1, with just four points out of their 10 games. They are yet to win a game this season. Cherki has featured in all 10 of those matches and has only one assist to his name.
Despite his disappointing performances of late, there is still a lot of interest in him. Newcastle United and Manchester United are both keen on having the 20-year-old in their ranks. Cherki has been on their radar for a while now. They have been scouting him, and with his contract running out in the summer of 2025, they are looking to land him at their club next summer.
