Real Madrid are closing in on the signatures of the 19-year-old Olympique Lyon attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki.
According to a report by Fichajes, Real Madrid could end up acquiring the services of Rayan Cherki in the winter transfer window. The 19-year-old sensation has been on the radar of Los Blancos for a while now and they could finally make a move for his services in the upcoming transfer window.
Cherki has been at Olympique Lyon since his childhood days. He has come through the ranks at the club at some pace and made it to their first team back in the winter of 2020. The 19-year-old sensation already has over 108 appearances for the French club and has also contributed towards 30 goals.
Last season he was involved in 39 matches and was on the pitch for over 2,300 minutes. He even contributed towards 11 goals. He has gone from strength to strength over the past 18 months and some of the biggest clubs in Europe have been keeping an eye on him.
The teenager’s contract at Lyon runs until the summer of 2025 but he could end up leaving the club in the winter. Cherki’s situation at the French club is not the best. He doesn’t get along well with a few of his teammates which has resulted in a few conflicts in their locker room.
He was expected to stay at the club until the end of the 2023-24 season. However, a lot has changed in the past few months. On the back of his conflicts with his teammates, the departure of the teenage sensation in the January transfer window is now a real possibility.
Real Madrid are one of the clubs keen on having the teenage sensation in their ranks. They have been linked with the 19-year-old for a while now and could end up making a move for his services in the winter transfer window. Los Blancos are always on the look for young talented players and they feel Cherki is someone who can be a great fit for their club.
Meanwhile, Lyon are expected to demand a fee of around €50 million. And, it will be interesting to see if the Spanish giants are willing to pay that big a fee for the 19-year-old. The team in white will have to make a decision quickly as they are not the only ones interested in his services, even Paris Saint-Germain are keen on having him in their ranks.
