Thiago Alcantara will likely leave Liverpool as a free agent when his contract with the Merseyside club expires on June 30, 2024.

According to a report by Football Insider, Thiago Alcantara might not be a Liverpool player for much longer. The 33-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the Merseyside club. He will likely depart from Anfield as a free agent in the 2024 summer transfer window after his deal expires on June 30.

Thiago Alcantara should have been a short-term solution in the middle of the park for Liverpool when he arrived from Bayern Munich over three years ago. The Spanish international enjoyed an excellent stint with the Bundesliga heavyweights, winning every trophy multiple times.

So, when the 33-year-old joined Liverpool in a small-money deal, pundits and fans hailed the transfer acumen of the Merseyside club’s transfer committee. However, injuries have ravaged Thiago during his spell with Liverpool, with a run of games coming at a premium. That has also been the case this term.

Thiago has yet to make an appearance for Liverpool thus far this season, with a hip injury curtailing his involvement. With the experienced midfielder pocketing a handsome £200,000-a-week salary, it does not make sense to continue the association for many more years. And the report claims his spell at Anfield will likely end in the 2024 summer transfer window.

Recent reports have claimed that Barcelona might launch the offensive to re-sign Thiago. In addition, Saudi Pro League clubs are also keen on landing him. So, the 33-year-old might not have a shortage of suitors, and Saudi outfits might even match his £200,000-a-week wages if they secure his services next year.

Meanwhile, a few reports have suggested that Liverpool might even consider parting ways with Thiago in the January transfer window. With the Reds scouring the market for a holding midfielder, they can open up a spot by offloading the struggling Spanish international.

But the report by Football Insider has suggested that Thiago will likely leave Liverpool as a free agent in the 2024 summer transfer window. That might not be the worst call either, considering the Reds are in the thick of the Premier League title race. But his frustrating spell at Anfield should end next year.
