Fabrizio Romano rules of Chelsea move for Aaron Ramsdale

Fabrizio Romano claimed Chelsea are not thinking about their goalkeeping situation and ruled out a potential move for Aaron Ramsdale.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Aaron Ramsdale is not part of Chelsea’s thinking ahead of the January window. The 25-year-old Arsenal star has endured a difficult period in north London, with speculation mounting on his future.

Multiple reports have claimed Chelsea might look to sign a new goalkeeper during the January window. Mauricio Pochettino may not have trusted Robert Sanchez completely, with the Argentine feeling the need to add another star to elevate their level.

A host of names have seen links to the Blues ahead of January. Everton Jordan Pickford remains a target, as does Diogo Costa and Giorgi Mamardashvili. Then, some are difficult to achieve mid-season, including AC Milan’s Mike Maignan.

However, one player that has caught Chelsea’s attention is 25-year-old Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale. The Blues have been keeping tabs on the England international since he lost his starting spot to David Raya. Mikel Arteta has not said it directly, but all signs point towards the Spaniard being the club’s new No.1.

Ramsdale had a few opportunities, but in a recent game against West Ham United, he did come in for some criticisms. More importantly, Arsenal are not considering a January sale, but they might listen to offers around the summer window.

As things stand, Ramsdale will carry a massive value, with the 25-year-old Arsenal star likely to fetch a hefty price in this current market. Chelsea will undoubtedly show their will to sign the England international if the Gunners make their decision about selling him.

Despite speculation that Chelsea are looking for a new keeper, Fabrizio Romano reckons that’s not the case. The Italian journalist insisted the Blues are not in any negotiations to sign Ramsdale or any other goalkeeper, for that matter.

He also insisted Chelsea are currently quiet on their goalkeeping situation, and so far they have not decided on whether to sign a new keeper. While they can still get active on that front as the January window approaches closer, for now, they are not thinking about it.

Ramsdale could become a solid option for them next summer, that is, if they are planning to wait until then. Even without Chelsea in the mix, Arsenal will have high hopes of fetching a fantastic fee for their 25-year-old former No.1.
