Real Madrid will not entertain any offers for 23-year-old French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, a target for Arsenal and Liverpool.

According to a report by 90min, Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing Aurelien Tchouameni. But Real Madrid will not part ways with a player they paid €80 million on last year. Instead, they are planning talks over a new contract with the 23-year-old midfielder, whose current deal runs until June 30, 2028.

Aurelien Tchouameni was one of the best young midfielders in the world when he joined Real Madrid. The Frenchman’s exploits in his homeland earned him interest from many well-known clubs, including Liverpool. But Real Madrid beat the competition to secure his services in a deal worth €80 million.

The 23-year-old endured a blow-hot-blow-cold debut season, losing his spot as a regular in the final months of the campaign. But Tchouameni’s stock has soared this term, as he has been one of the first names on the team sheet at the Santiago Bernabeu. The player has already managed over 1,000 minutes of game time across 14 appearances.

But Tchouameni’s progress at Real Madrid has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs again. Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs keen on signing the French international from Real Madrid. In addition, he has captured the attention of other Premier League bigwigs, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

Recent reports have claimed that Arsenal will prioritise securing Tchouameni’s services next summer. The Gunners signed Declan Rice to bolster their midfield unit this past summer. But amid uncertainties surrounding Thomas Partey’s future, Tchouameni emerged as a viable target for Arsenal.

As for Liverpool, the Reds remain keen on signing the French international despite missing his signature last year. They aggressively bolstered their midfield unit this past summer by landing four midfielders. But Jurgen Klopp is keen on adding a holding midfielder to his squad next year. However, Real Madrid will not entertain any offers for Tchouameni amid his links with Arsenal and Liverpool.

Real Madrid could have recouped more than the €80 million they paid to secure Tchouameni’s services last year. But their decision not to cash in on the 23-year-old makes sense. Meanwhile, the player might not have been open to a transfer either after rejecting a summer departure. So, it will be interesting to see who Arsenal and Chelsea identify as an alternative to the Frenchman.
