Manchester United joined Tottenham in the hunt for Sebastian Caceres, with the Club America defender attracting massive interest from Europe.

According to 90 Min, Manchester United are among the teams that have watched defender Sebastian Caceres in action alongside Tottenham. The Premier League duo continue to track the 24-year-old South American defender, who could leave Club America.

Sebastian Caceres continues to improve his stature in South America after steadily making his way into Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay side. The defender has started each of his nation’s last four games, including the win over Brazil during the last international break.

His stock has instantly gone up, and many sides in England are taking notice. West Ham have already shown an interest, but there are other clubs in the mix as well. Now, Tottenham and Manchester United have reportedly watched him in recent times, with those clubs ready to make enquiries.

Tottenham have already shown an interest in the defender, with Ange Postecoglou targetting a new centre-back in the January window. Spurs lack depth in the position and don’t really have many options beyond their starting pair, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Caceres’ side, Club America, are already preparing for life without their defender, as they know the interest from overseas will lead to a move. Now, Manchester United are also in the mix for the defender, with Erik ten Hag also looking for a new centre-back.

There are links to some high-profile names like Edmond Tapsoba and Jean-Clair Todibo, but finances may stifle their chances of landing a top name. Hence, without sacrificing quality, they could ponder a move for the 24-year-old South American defender if the conditions are right.

For now, both clubs will keep monitoring his continued rise, especially under Bielsa, as the 24-year-old South American defender steadily heads into becoming an undisputed starter for Uruguay. Whether he has it in him to make the grade in Europe remains the question.

He has made over 170 appearances for Club America since joining them in 2017 and is essentially considered an important part of the team. But the Mexican outfit may not stand in Caceres’ way if interest from Manchester United or Tottenham arrives.
