Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Spanish defender Arnau Martinez.

A report from 90min claims that Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester are monitoring 20-year-old Girona defender Arnau Martinez. The three clubs could look to make a move for him in the coming months.

Apparently, Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona are keen on the talented young defender as well. So, it will be interesting to see where he ends up. As for Arsenal, the Gunners used Ben White as their right-back last season, and they could certainly use a more specialist option in there.

Martinez would thus be a quality long-term investment for them. The versatile young defender is primarily a right-back. But he can operate as a central defender if needed. He is capable of operating as a wing-back as well.

Liverpool need to bring in a quality alternative to Trent Alexander-Arnold, and the 20-year-old certainly fits the profile. However, he might want to play regularly at this stage of his career. So, a move to Liverpool might not be ideal for his development.

Similarly, Manchester United need more options at their disposal. Diogo Dalot has done reasonably well this season, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka might soon sign a new contract. But with neither player being completely convincing, Martinez is a viable target. Erik ten Hag could nurture him into a key player for the club.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will have to find a quality long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal, and the 20-year-old would be a solid, long-term investment for them. The Girona defender has shown his quality in La Liga, and the opportunity to play for big clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid will be hard to turn down.

However, he needs to join a club where he will get ample first-team action. The youngster cannot afford to sit on the bench at a big club and affect his development negatively. He is a player with tremendous potential, and he could develop into one of the best full-backs in European football with the right coaching and guidance.
