A report from TEAMtalk has claimed that Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United are all tracking Irish wonderkid Mason Melia. The Premier League trio are keen on adding to their ranks by adding a young striker.
A number of Premier League clubs were tracking the talented youngster during the European Under-17 championship qualifiers, and his performances have left Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United.
The St. Patrick Athletic striker could develop into an important first-team member for the English clubs, and it remains to be seen whether they decide to follow up on their interest with an official bid to sign him. Liverpool were recently tracking the player as well.
Melia has already made his senior appearance for St. Patrick’s Athletic as a 15-year-old and is currently the youngest scorer in the league of Ireland Premier Division. So far, he has scored twice and picked up one assist in seven appearances for St. Patrick’s Athletic across all competitions.
The player has already had trial spells at clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United provide him with an opportunity to showcase his qualities in the coming months.
St. Patrick’s Athletic are reportedly bracing themselves for offers from top clubs. The likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United have the resources to get the deal done, and it will be interesting to see where the youngster ends up. The 16-year-old is likely to be tempted to join these clubs if there is a concrete proposal on the table.
Manchester United have a proven track record of nurturing young players into established first-team stars, and Erik ten Hag could help the youngster fulfil his potential at Old Trafford. Chelsea have produced a number of talented young players from their academy in recent seasons.
