Fabrizio Romano rubbishes Arsenal, Chelsea links with Serhou Guirassy

Serhou Guirassy has been linked with a move away from VfB Stuttgart, with Premier League clubs Chelsea and Arsenal linked with him.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed to Caught Offside that he has not heard of any interest from Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea in Serhou Guirassy. The Guinea international has been in fine form this season, scoring 14 goals in eight appearances across all competitions.

“Serhou Guirassy – For sure clubs are following the in-form Stuttgart striker, but at the moment I’m not aware of any contact with Chelsea or Arsenal, that would be pure guessing as I’m not aware of any negotiation or contact,” Romano said before adding, “I think we should also respect Stuttgart, he’s a key player for them and his focus is 100% on Stuttgart.”

There is no doubt that he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Arsenal and Chelsea. But they are simply not interested in him as of now. Chelsea could certainly use another goalscorer in their ranks. They signed Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal at the start of the season. But he needs more support in the attack.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have started the season in poor form, and they will need more quality in order to bounce back strongly and finish high up the table. Chelsea will be desperate to return to the Champions League, and they should look to bring in quality players during the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Arsenal already have an impressive squad, but they are lacking in depth when it comes to competing in multiple competitions. They will look to challenge for the league title and do well in the UEFA Champions League as well.

Arsenal already have Gabriel Jesus at their disposal, but the Brazilian is not a prolific goalscorer. Guirassy would add a new dimension to their attack, and he could share the goalscoring burden with the Brazilian international. The 26-year-old is likely to be tempted to join a club like Arsenal or Chelsea.

It would be a major step up in his career and he would get to prove himself at the highest level. It will be interesting to see if any of the Premier League clubs come forward with a concrete proposal to sign him in the coming months. If he continues to perform at this level, there is no doubt that the top clubs will come knocking for the player soon.
