Al Ettifaq have contacted Conor Gallagher, who does not want to leave Chelsea despite Steven Gerrard’s attempts.

According to Football Transfers, El Ettifaq have contacted Conor Gallagher over a move ahead of the January window. Their manager and former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard leads the narrative to bring the Chelsea star, who does not want to leave the club anytime soon.

The Saudi Pro League proved a menace to the Premier League and other European countries with their relentless pursuit of top stars. The Middle Eastern country wanted to establish itself on the footballing map, taking the shorter route and using their enormous pit of funds to make some moves happen.

For instance, they signed Liverpool midfield pair Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, destabilising Jurgen Klopp’s summer plans. They also recruited older players and established stars like N’Golo Kante and Ruben Neves from the Premier League.

However, not all clubs caved into the money offered and kept a safe distance from speculation like Arsenal. The north Londoners refused to entertain approaches for Gabriel Magalhaes despite speculation late into the summer window.

The Saudi Pro League are back at it and ready to identify fresh targets ahead of the January window. While there’s plenty of time for that market to open, Al Ettifaq wants Conor Gallagher as part of their midfield during winter.

The report states that Steven Gerrard has contacted Gallagher about a potential move to Al Ettifaq. In response, the 23-year-old Chelsea ace has refused a move and insisted he wants to remain at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable future.

Chelsea have planned contract talks with Gallagher after a string of impressive performances in their midfield. The club were somewhat open to a sale, considering the 23-year-old’s homegrown status, which could have helped them balance their financial books.

Tottenham were also keen on the midfielder, but reports suggest Spurs never made an offer for the 23-year-old Chelsea ace. As for the Al Ettifaq interest, the Blues might make a note of the unprecedented approach for their key star mid-season, which could affect future business with the Saudi side.

Gerrard reportedly tried to sign Gallagher while at Aston Villa. He remains interested in bringing the Chelsea star to the Middle East, but his methods may have left a black mark on future deals between the two clubs.
