Leece defender Patrick Dorgu has been linked with a move away from the Serie A club in recent weeks, with Manchester City keen.

A report by Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness claims that Manchester City and Liverpool are keen on signing Patrick Dorgu. But the two Premier League heavyweights will face competition from Barcelona to sign him from Serie A club Lecce.

The 18-year-old has established himself as an important first-team player for the Serie A club, and his performances have caught the attention of a number of clubs. He is expected to develop into a top-class full-back in the coming seasons. So it is no surprise that the high-profile teams are keeping tabs on him.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester City, Liverpool or Barcelona decide to come forward with a concrete proposal to sign him in the coming months. The full-back has a contract with the Serie A club until the summer of 2027, and they have no plans to cash in on him midway through the season.

Furthermore, the player’s agent is not pushing for a move either, and he believes that the defender will benefit from staying at the Italian club and playing regularly. It remains to be seen whether the three clubs can convince the youngster to move at the end of the season.

Liverpool could certainly use a quality left-back as a long-term successor for Andrew Robertson. The Scottish international has been a tremendous servant for the club. But he will soon be on the wrong side of 30. So, Liverpool will need to start planning for a future without him. Dorgu could prove to be a quality, long-term acquisition, and he has the potential to establish himself as a key layer for the Reds.

Manchester City have had to use summer signing Josko Gvardiol as a left-back. The Croatian international is naturally a central defender, and Pep Guardiola should look to bring in a specialist left-back soon. The 18-year-old Danish defender certainly fits the profile, and it remains to be seen whether Manchester City can win the race for his signature.

Barcelona are going through financial difficulties, and they might struggle to compete with the two Premier League clubs. But they could certainly use a young defender like him, despite the presence of Alejandro balde. All three clubs would represent an excellent move for the youngster, and it remains to be seen where he ends up.
