Experienced Real Madrid utility man Lucas Vazquez is reportedly “one step away” from joining Serie A giants Juventus in January.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Lucas Vazquez is the subject of interest from Juventus. The Serie A giants are keen on signing the Real Madrid utility man in the January transfer window. And the publication has claimed that the 32-year-old is “one step away” from moving to the Allianz Stadium.

Lucas Vazquez has been a dependable performer for Real Madrid since becoming a member of the club’s first-team squad. A graduate of Los Blancos’ youth division, the Spaniard took some time to establish a foothold in the first-team squad. He was a rotation option for a long time before he became a regular.

While the 32-year-old was initially a right-winger for Real Madrid, he has come into his own since becoming a right-back. Vazquez initially turned out as a right-back in the absence of Dani Carvajal, with a bad situation forcing his hand. But after proving to be a revelation in a makeshift role, the utility man adopted the position as his primary role.

The Spanish wide man has turned out over 300 times thus far for Real Madrid, chipping in with 33 goals and 58 assists. But Vazquez’s Real Madrid future is uncertain after entering the final year of his contract. Meanwhile, with recent reports linking Real Madrid with right-backs like Jeremie Frimpong, it behoves the player to embark on a new adventure.

Meanwhile, the Spaniard has no shortage of suitors pursuing his signature heading into the January transfer window. The experienced wide man is a target for Serie A giants Juventus. With Danilo now playing as a central defender, Massimiliano Allegri has only one natural right-back in his squad — Mattia De Sciglio.

So, Lucas Vazquez has emerged as a viable target for Juventus, who will look to secure his services in January. And the report by Defensa Central has suggested that the 32-year-old is “one step away” from joining the Serie A giants.

Turning out in Serie A might help Vazquez extend his career and play into his late thirties. In addition, he has the quality to become the first-choice right-back for the Bianconeri. But Real Madrid should not cash in on the Spaniard this winter, considering Dani Carvajal and Nacho will be the only other right-backs in the first-team squad.
